Riesling (100%), TUMBARUMBA
The 2017 growing season was long - spun out by a wet spring start – and in spite of a warm, dry summer. Deep soils and close proximity to the high country allowed the fruit to retain freshness and brightness during the lengthy ripening period. The resulting fruit was of the highest quality.
Viticulture Gordon & Elizabeth Cribbin’s vineyard sits in a saddle at 850m above sea level, at the foothills of the Snowy Mountains. The site drains to valleys either side and offers a great micro-climate for growing Riesling at the cool margin. The soil is deep, well-drained, weathered granite.
Winemaking Pristine grapes were hand harvested at 11.9 Baumé and whole bunch pressed oxidatively. The juice was fermented on full lees at about 16 deg C. The wine was matured briefly on lees before bottling in June 2017.
Taste This dry style is clean on the nose with aromas of white flowers and lime. A juicy abundance of fresh grapefruit and lime are threaded with herbal, floral and stony nuances. A crunchy mid-palate yields to an invigoratingly bright and animated finish.
